1 killed in shooting inside Birmingham’s Railroad Park

A man was shot to death Sunday night inside Railroad Park in Birmingham.

The shooting happened about 8:50 p.m. at the park in the 1600 block of First Avenue South.

Lt. Ron Harless said the gunfire appeared to stem from an altercation between two men. The shooting took place near the park’s pavilion area right off First Avenue South.

The victim was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

A person of interest is in custody.

“This appears to be an isolated incident between the two parties,’’ Harless said.

This is a developing story and will be updated if more information becomes available.
